Class Description
Honors Language Arts 9 In Honors Language Arts the students go deeper with writing, reading and discussion. They will be researching and reading on a higher level than regular LA. This does not mean more work, it just means more interesting work.
Honors Secondary Mathematics I Students in Honors Secondary Mathematics II will focus on topics such as quadratic expressions, equations, and functions, extend the set of rational numbers to the set of complex numbers, link probability and data through conditional probability and counting methods, and much more.
Honors Biology In Honors Biology, Students will be introduced to the Science of Life, Anatomy and Physiology, Chemistry, the Cell, Heredity, Diversity and Evolution, Life Systems, and the Methodology of Science all in accordance with the Utah State Core Curriculum.
Honors Geography GEOGRAPHY FOR LIFE HONORS course is a full year, in depth global study where students will analyze and apply to their own lives topics such as population, cultures, economic and government systems, world religions, world events, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and much more. At the end of this class, students will have a valuable global education and outlook that will benefit them for the rest of their lives.
Spanish 2 The overarching intent of world language instruction in our program is to educate students linguistically and culturally to communicate successfully in a pluralistic American society and abroad. This imperative envisions a future in which all students will develop and maintain proficiency in English and at least one other world language, which in this case is Spanish.
CE Business Office Specialist BOS applies advanced concepts and principles using word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and electronic presentation software. Students will integrate applications learned. This course builds on skills in Digital Literacy. Students may have the opportunity to participate in industry level exams through Certiport.
Teacher Aide In this class students will be assigned to work under the supervision of a teacher. They will be expected to do filing, duplication, and assisting in preparations of non-student and non-confidential records. They may be assigned to do other projects such as creating, preparing and posting bulletin boards. Teacher aides are expected to be responsible individuals who can do their assigned tasks with a minimum of direct supervision.
Physical Skills (Online) In Physical Skills students will learn to perform a variety of motor skills through workout routines and specific team and individual sports. Through class activities, students will gain insight into the benefits of being physically fit and develop strategies for achieving and maintaining life-long fitness.
Honors World Civilization (Online Summer Course) This course teaches students about the contributions of the major cultures and societies of the past.
Health II (Online Summer Course) This course assists students in the continual development of skills to improve the quality of life. This course emphasizes the physical, social, and mental dimensions of people so that students become better consumers of health informaiton. This course offers students the opportunity to evaluate health practices, products, and services. This course has a section on human sexuality.
Drawing I (Online Summer Course) In Drawing 1, students learn the basic skills necessary for drawing, e.g. drawing basic forms, shading (value), grids, negative space, etc. Students will engage in producing many works of art using multiple media including, but not limited to, graphite, charcoal, ink, linoleum, and scratch board. Students are encouraged to be creative and are often asked to select their own subject to draw.

Class Description
Honors Language Arts 10 (Online) This course offers students the opportunity to master skills in reading, writing, speaking, listening, and language, demonstrating independence in analyzing complex texts, articulating own ideas, and seeking and evaluating resources. Students will build strong content knowledge through research by critiquing claims and evidence, and reinforcing sound reasoning. World literature will be integrated for understanding, appreciating and evaluating perspectives from other cultures.
Honors Secondary Mathematics II Students in Secondary Mathematics II will focus on quadratic expressions, equations, and functions, extend the set of rational numbers to the set of complex numbers, link probability and data through conditional probability and counting methods, study similarity and right triangle trigonometry, and study circles with their quadratic algebraic representations. Honors students will also represent complex numbers and their operations on the complex plane, solve systems of equations, prove and apply trigonometric identities, express conic sections algebraically, and solve problems using volume measurements.
CE 1610 & 1615 Biology This course content: biological chemistry, cell structure, metabolism, genetics, evolution, and diversity. Laboratory observations and experimentation to enhance understanding of biological chemistry, cell structure, metabolism, genetics, and evolution.
AP Psychology The AP Psychology course introduces students to the systematic and scientific study of human behavior and mental processes. While considering the psychologists and studies that have shaped the field, students explore and apply psychological theories, key concepts, and phenomena associated with such topics as the biological bases of behavior, and much more.
Web Development This course builds upon the skills in Business Web Page Design and provides advanced skill development in the electronic procedures of producing, editing, publishing, and maintaining documents on the Internet. Web publishing software and HTML are used to develop the competencies of creating, formatting, illustrating, designing, editing/revising, and publishing documents on the World Wide Web. Proofreading, document composition, and communication competencies are included.
Animal Science This course exposes students to a wide range of scientific principles: genetics, anatomy, physiology/nutrition, disease, pests, and management practices. Students will also student ration formulations, range practices, poisonous plants, and management practices on domestic animals. Career opportunities and educational preparation are examined. Learning activities are varied with classroom, laboratories, and field experiences.
Digital Graphics Arts Intro: Design A course designed to introduce students to the essential areas of graphic and visual communications. Safety, design, computer skills, page layout, digital image editing, digital illustration, and printing will be studied,with an emphasis in a ‘hands-on’ approach to learning. Students will produce the following printed projects: t-shirts, hats, notepads, vinyl decals, pinback buttons, and more!
Equine Science Equine Science is a course designed to enhance the understanding of equine care and systems. Students will develop a deeper understanding of career opportunities, industry expectations, knowledge and skills related to the care and maintenance of horses, donkeys, and mules.
Drawing II In Drawing 2 we take the skills we learned in Drawing 1 to the next level! We go bigger and bolder with our drawings and the media we use to create them. We also do in-class exercises to perfect our drawing skills. Drawing 2 students also have the opportunity to participate in the Memory Project, where they can draw a portrait for an orphan, as we always end our semester with portrait drawing.
Painting I Students will use the basic techniques and skills relating to the use of watercolor and acrylics. Painting may also have mixed media; e.g., collage and various combinations of painting materials. Students will develop painting skills by creating many paintings throughout the semester, such as a monochromatic and abstract. The class fee provides each student with their own set of brushes, several canvases, and all the other materials provided in the classroom, i.e. paint.
Fit For Life (Online) This course helps each student adopt a personal lifestyle that will achieve physical fitness. This course and Heath or Health Science Overview is an option to the Life Skills course to meet graduation requirements.
