Internships & Volunteering

These are some internships and volunteer opportunties that I was a part of.

Graphic Designer & Writer

I was a graphic designer for EDify Talks from June to September in 2020.

Their mission is to provide adolescents with the tools they can use to become educated on eating disorders(and the deadly side effects), to self-love themselves, and to sustain a happy relationship with food. My role was to create 1-2 graphics for writing a week, writing topics when asked, and helping where we were short of volunteers/interns.

Marketing Intern

I was a marketing intern for Global Innovation Youth Leader Summit from June to September in 2020.

Their mission was "Our purpose is to promote global social change through an entrepreneurial lens starting at local levels by providing youth, especially disadvantaged youth, a platform for community-based collaboration, access to resources, and idea development." My role was to create graphics for events, find speakers for summit and creating marketing strategies.

Content Manager

I was a content manager at TheGirlsource.co from September to October in 2020.

It was sadly disbanded as the founder had too much going on to continue. Our mission was to try to uncover the opportunities, give advice on the various fields girls are interested in, through newsletters/issues! My role was to create graphics, find opportunities, create layout design for newsletter, and help where we were short on volunteers.

Science & Tech Mentor

I was a science and tech mentor at Mission Impassionable from June to November in 2020.

Their mission is to educate, empower, and elevate underrepresented groups and provide an opportunity for them to discover their passions. My role was to create mentorship presentation for science category, create graphics for the organizations events, mentor one on one for mentorship program, and be present for eight weeks of tech and science curriculum

Graphic Designer & Team Member

I was a team member at Breaking Barriers from August to November in 2020.

Their mission is to be actively pushing the status quo by blazing the path to break universal barriers. My role was to create graphics for events, design current website, and other team member duties.

VA Pharmacy Volunteer

I volunteered in the Ventrans Affair Hospital for the entire summer of 2019. The Temple, TX Veterans Affair Hospital had an amazing opportunity that let students volunteer a whole summer around the hospital. I was mainly stationed in the pharmacy from 8-4 organizing medications and helping veterans in that area. We also helped organize events and handle PR.

These are some events and hackathons I attended.

TechxHealth Conference 2020

Took place on September 7th - 10th.

Conference focusing on how tech and health will be in the future and about how we can get involved.

MakeSPP 2020 Hackathon

Took place on October 9th - 11th.

I won third place overall.

MakeSPP virtually brings together over 500 innovative young minds for a three-day hackathon and technology conference. we're a diverse and creative community of students dedicated to solving some of the most challenging problems with technology.

OwlHacks Hackathon

Took place on October 17th - 18th.

This will be Temple University’s first virtual hackathon. Students and sponsors from around the world will gather virtually via Zoom in the name of STEM. Students will spend 24 hours working in teams or individually to create personal projects or compete for sponsored prizes.

HackCancer Solutions Hackathon

Took place on October 23th - 24th.

I won the popular vote.

HackCancer Solutions is founded by a group of high school students in Texas, U.S.A. to raise awareness in technology that helps destigmatize the cancer affected society. We invite anyone (middle schoolers, high schoolers, and college students) to attend our FREE 24-hour hackathon on October 23, 2020, to put their skills to the test, learn new skills, connect with professionals in the tech industry, collaborate with students that share similar interests, gain hands-on experience, and explore the world of technology. There will be workshops and mentors to help you along so no experience is required.

Technica Hackathon

Took place on October 24th - 25th.

Over the duration of 24 hours, women and non-binary people are immersed in tech culture and encouraged to exercise their imagination to create interesting and innovative hacks. Technica 2020’s theme is “Expand Your Horizons”. We want to challenge our hackers to step out of their comfort zone and try something new, whether that's exploring a new technology, tinkering with hardware hacks, or coding for the very first time! This year we're introducing our beginners and hardware tracks, designed for hackers looking for extra support or interested in trying their hand at electronics. At Technica, we want our hackers to learn, grow, and meet new people, so join us at Technica 2020 to #ExpandYourHorizons!

TechTogether Boston Hackathon

Took place on November 6th - 8th.

I won the best high school hack.

Create a project to shape your future! Design a hack based on personal growth, social change, or environmental awareness. TechTogether Boston, Boston's largest student-run hackathon open to all female, femme, and non-binary individuals! Our mission is to empower women and femme non-binary individuals in technology to achieve, provide them with opportunities to explore the tech industry in an inspiring, encouraging, and energizing environment,create a community of inclusivity within the tech industry.

WWP Hacks

Took place on November 21st - 22nd.

WWPHacks is a collaborative programming competition where teams of up to four work against the clock to build innovative technological solutions to real world problems. Participants will have 24 hours to communicate and work on their project with their team, with the opportunity to participate in numerous workshops, mini-events, and meet like-minded people along the way. WWPHacks is open to people of all backgrounds and skill levels provided they are enrolled in a high school, pursuing a bachelors degree, or seeking a non-traditional education.
